Project Overview
To improve veteran player retention in Marvel Puzzle Quest, I led four major feature releases that integrated theatrical launches with in-game live events, creating fresh engagement opportunities for long-term players.
Collaborating closely with development teams, core mechanics and UX were refined to better serve veteran players while maintaining accessibility for new users—resulting in a 50% increase in Day 7 retention.
Internal challenges around development prioritization were addressed through data-driven insights that aligned teams on retention-focused improvements. This strategy boosted ROAS by 150%, increasing player LTV and driving sustained engagement across all player segments.
On the art and design front, partnerships with creative teams brought high-profile activations to life, including a cross-collaboration with Guardians of the Galaxy—Eidos-Montreal.
Our Challenge
The challenge with Marvel Puzzle Quest was improving retention and engagement among veteran players while working with a development team that was highly resistant to changes.
With high long-tail churn rates, it was essential to balance efforts between retaining dedicated players and onboarding new users. I drove cross-team alignment by leveraging data-driven insights to overcome resistance, guiding a strategic approach that fostered sustained engagement and ultimately improved long-term player retention and growth.
